Arad is a city located in the West region of Romania, on the lower reaches of the river Mures. It is also called little Wien. The story is that in 1906 the historian Nicolae Iorga was in Arad and compared it with Wien. Among the first cities in Romania, it is the chief county and the largest city in the county. Also it is the borderline between two of the historical regions known as Banat and Crisana.

The city’s center is the life and soul by day and by night. Also, it is an important point for visiting, shopping or walking during the day or the evening. Arad is an important economic and cultural center, being the main gate to Europe from this side of the country. The city announced candidacy for the title of European cultural capital in 2021.
